Blah.

Here are some photos from the Norwich gig we played last weekend. Thanks to Keri-Ann Sandra Ashton Heritage who took them and has a very long name. It was hella fun, as was the Pompey show, but I don't have any photographic evidence to prove it. The Norwich gig was the launch gig of this compilation which is raising money for Amnesty International.

It wouldn't be a Norwich gig without a human pyramid. Jugs makes an excellent cornerstone. McIpod looks on, unimpressed.

Thats it for this year. We're all fucking off to our hometowns for Christmas now. Except for Sam, whose single handedly holding the Southampton fort. I'm not sure what that entails but I'm sure he's got it covered. We'll be back next year. Bigger! Badder! Handsomer! We're gonna release some splits! We're gonna play more gigs! Murf's gone amp-buying crazy so now we don't even have to lend stuff all the time! Shit!

Get in touch if you want us to come play for you. If we can we will. Especially (but by no means entirely) on weekends. We're gonna try and do lots of weekends. Up the weekend punx!

Lots of Love

Some things...

I've been in York all week. Its been nice. I'm coming home tomorrow though and this weekend we will be REPIN' SOME SHOWZ. Our last for this year! The first "show" we will be "repin'" is in Norwich on Friday. The two previous times we've played in Norwich have been really fun. Which is just as well because getting there is a massive old trek.

The gig is the launch gig for a compilation cd that Sound for a Pound are putting out to raise money for Amnesty International. We're on it. So are all the other bands that are playing the gig. So are 18 other bands apparently, but I'm not sure who yet. Either way you can get the cd at the gig and you probably should.

You want a flyer do you?

Then we get to drive home again that night and go to work on Saturday. Yay.

Then on Sunday the 12th of December we are playing in Portsmouth. This is the first time we will ever have played in Portsmouth, which seems really weird, cos it's only down the road. The excellend people at Southsea DIY are putting it on. Lovely.

Winter

I hate winter. It's cold all the time. It's dark all the time. All I want to do is curl up in a ball with a chai tea and a mince pie and do nothing. It's all very unproductice. Im not blaming winter for any of this, I fully accept that the problem lies squarly with me but either way, I'd much rather it was summer again.

Mega Games also seem to be in a state of semi-hibernation at the minute. We've got a couple of gigs coming up but that will be it for the year. This is mainly because we've all been going back or are about to go back to our respective home-towns for visits, all at different times, plus we've all got work, then it will be Christmas, blah blah blah.

Once we get all that business out of the way we should be back to doing stuff alot more regularly. Me and Murf will have a fresh batch of holiday time to take, plus Sam's temporary christmas contract with The Man will have expired, so hopefully we'll be able to arrange a few more tours and long weekends in the new year. If you are planning on putting on any gigs in the new year you should definatly ask us to play.

We should also be recording a couple of new songs in January. They will be going on a split. Which split I'm not sure yet. That's right, we have MORE THAN ONE split planned for the next year. But with who? That shall remain an elusive secret, unless you actually ask us, in which case we'll probably just tell you.

Lots of Love,

Harry x

I will leave you with a correction

A Correction.

In a previous posting on megagamesblog.blogspot.com I incorrectly implied that the Southampton DIY Facebook page was created by one Ricky Bates. It has since some to light that said Facebook page was in  fact created by Tom off of Almeida. Megagamesblog.blogspot.com would like to apologise for any distress caused to either party by our glaring oversight.

Some shamless self-promotion...

I (Harry) have a little label that mainly releases limited edition tapes. It has a distro full of other people's tapes as well. It's called Something Honest To Dance To. Recently I released the cassette version of the new ONSIND album, which is really rather good.

It has a new website which you can reach in two different ways, pick your favourite!

I have no other news.

This will still be rad...

Another flyer for the Bomb show in Manchester next sunday. Look! It's by that guy who does the Bangers stuff! Exciting, huh?

Last night me and Trigger tried to screenprint some patches. We failed. Turns out we had the wrong kind of white ink. HOWEVER we are gonna try again next week so hopefully we will have some lovely screen-printed patches in time for that gig. If you like scrabble (and who dosn't?) you are in for a treat.

Don't forget the first leg of us supporting Bomb The Music Industry is this Sunday (the 7th!) in Southampton. Despite the significant lack of scrabble-based Mega Games patches it is still gonna be a lot of fun so you should all come. Bring indoor sparklers! Actually don't, you'll probably get in trouble.

That show is actually part of a whole month of cool gigs in Southampton to celebrate the fact that Ricky Bates is turning 5 years old. Awe. So what other gigs are happening the month!? Well I'll tell you, via the medium of flyer.....

Pretty sweet eh? Another thing that Ricky has done that I like is make a Facebook Page for all the DIY & Punk gigs that are going on in Southampton. So that you can find out about all the sweet upcoming shows in one place, not just the ones that he's putting on. Now I'm not exactly Facebook's No. 1 fan but I think thats the kinda good, positive thing that makes it kinda-ok-i-suppose. So spread the word yeah? Or at least join the page and come to gigs and stuff.

Happy bonfire night

Lets drive to brighton for the weekend

We played in Brighton last Saturday. It was nice. Brighton is a really cool place, despite the lack of sand on its beach, so we went down early to take advantage of its amusements and Chai-Soy-Lattes.
Quite a profitable day down the pier actually, Matt won a tiny cow keyring on the 2p machines and me, Fish and Sam were so good at the wack-a-mouse that we were rewarded with enough tokens to claim lolly pops for us all. Horray!

The gig was really good too. Gundersons, ONSIND and The Max Levine Ensemble were all excellent and I strongly recommend you checking them out. I didn't take any photos during the gig. On the few occasions I actually remember to take my camera anywhere I always forget to use it. I was having too much fun actually watching the bands to take photos anyway. Oh well.

In other good/bad news Sam has got a temporary christmas job. Good because he might one day pay me back the £30 he owes me, but bad because it means we're probably not gonna be able to do that many more gigs untill next year. We're still gonna do some though, so if you want us to play something feel free to ask us and we'll do our best.

The next two gigs were doing are with Bomb The Music Industry!. I love Bomb, you can download all their albums for free from Quote Unquote and again I highly recommend you do (my favourites, and therefore the best, are Scrambles and Goodbye Cool World. Oh and while you're there get the new album by a band called The Wild, cos it too is mint and free to download).
Im just happy that I get to see them twice while there over here, the fact we're playing is a bonus. Look over at the gigs bit for more details. We should be playing A BRAND NEW SONG (as in a song thats new, not a cover of a song by Brand New) providing that we "nail it" in practice next week. So that's something to look forward to.

I will leave you with a picture of a Brighton Sax Maverick...

Fuck you, Myspace!

Hey y'all, welcome to our new website. I was never particularly thrilled to be using myspace as our "Main Site" but now its got so overcomplicated, lame and shitty to use that I just can be doing with it no more. Have you tried to add a gig to it recently? Fuck that.

So this will now be the main source of Mega Games-based news. Not that I have any exciting Mega Games-based news to tell you about. Except that we've got a new website. Did you hear about that?

You can download (for free!) our "discography" over on the right-hand side and see what gigs were playing over there on the left. Refreshingly simple, don't you think?

As always, email mega_games@live.com if you have anything you would like to say to us, or gigs you would like us to play.

Lots of love,

Harry x
