So I guess we're splitting up...

Recently Matt got a new job back in Newbury. Its a job that he wanted and something that he likes doing so no one could blame him for taking it. But it means that he's now busy a lot more of the time, including a lot of weekends. Last night he told us that because of this he’s not really gonna be able to go on dedicating any time to the band, which we had kinda seen coming anyway since he got this job. None of us, including Matt, have ever wanted to do this band as an occasional thing. We don’t want to be one of those bands that play a couple of gigs every few months and have to turn down gigs all the time. We've all always wanted to play as much as possible, to gig whenever and wherever we can, and to arrange the other things in our lives around what the band is doing rather than the other way round.

So last night at practice we talked about what we wanted to do. Whether we wanted to go back to being a three-piece, of find a new bassist. But I guess it felt like whatever we did it would be back to square one. There's only so many times you can go back to square one. Also even though Matt has been in the band less time than the rest of us its still feels like he is an important part of the band, and we wouldn't want to replace him with any old chump. Finding that dedicated non-chump could take some time, and we wouldn't want to feel like we we're settling for someone who wasn't quite right. Like I said before, all we want to do is get out there, travel the country and play as many awesome shows with as many awesome people as we possibly can. But it feels like whatever we do that’s not gonna be possible for some time. There's only so many times you can go back to square one.

So we've decided to call it a day. It feels like time. Hopefully we will go out on a high. Our last two shows will be on the 28th April in Exeter (at The Cavern with The Blacklist Royals and ONSIND) and the 29th April in Southampton (at Unit with Above Them and ONSIND). We'd like to play a few shows before that though so if you wanna give us what will be one of our last ever gigs please get in touch, and we will try and do them. It would be nice to play a few more times.

I would now like to do the clichéd bit where I thank everyone who has ever helped us. But it's true. To anyone that has helped us out in any way over the years we are incredibly grateful. It would have been impossible to have done anything without the awesomeness of other people. Whether it's been putting us on, driving us around, letting us stay in their house, or any of the countless other awesome things that numerous people have done for us over the years. When I think about how many great people we have met due to this band its crazy. So many people that I now would call a friend I probably would never have met if it wasn't for this band. We've played gigs with some of my favourite bands, and seen bands who we've played with from the start become some of the  most amazing bands in the country. It's been a fun 3-and-a-bit years.

I could probably go on and get more sentimental but I think this band has always meant more to us than it has to other people.

There will be new bands coming from the ashes at some point. Keep an eye out.

P.S. We're playing in Weymouth next Thursday, best come see us while you still have a chance.
